In the fairly recent past the only bandwidth choices (for point to point links, internet or MPLS) were 10Mbps, 100Mbps and 1Gbps.
Over the last few years competition has ensured a decrease in pricing and the introduction of higher speeds, most commonly available being 10Gbps.
Dark Fibre has always been an option – the ability to plug your own equipment onto an unmanaged fibre and run any speed you wish. However, this usually had a high price tag and could involve civil engineering. Campus type environments, or carrier networks would typically utilise this.
Openreachs decision to allow us to use their infrastructure for dark fibre will allow us to provide cost effective links you can run at any speed. Pricing will typically fall between 1Gbps and 10Gbps, more towards the 1Gbps end.
